  1. First Stop: Family Break and Charging

Our first stop was a family-friendly rest area equipped with a playground. It was the perfect spot for our daughter to stretch her legs, enjoy some playtime and get an ice cream (yes! early in the morning!)

  1. Second Stop: Chiemsee, Bavaria

Midway through our journey, we paused at the picturesque Chiemsee, often referred to as the "Bavarian Sea." The serene lake offered a refreshing break.

Dining: We enjoyed a delightful meal at Dolce Vita, an Italian restaurant offering authentic cuisine with a view of the lake.

🏨 Accommodation: Alps Resort, Höggen

Upon arrival in Höggen, we checked into the Alps Resort, a haven nestled amidst the Austrian Alps.

Amenities:

  • Spacious Apartments: Fully equipped with kitchenettes and balconies offering panaromic mountain views.

  • Wellness Area: Heated pool and sauna facilities for relaxation.

  • Family- Friendly: Outdoor play areas and green spaces for children.

  • Dining: Unfortunately, there was nothing in the resort but we had the possibility to cook or grab something from the old town. Note that it is difficult to order anything through apps for food.

  • Activities: Bike rentals and access to nearby hiking trails.

Adjacent to the resort is a scenic 9-hole golf course, ideal for beginners and seasoned players.

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxation

  • Settled into our apartment and explored the resort's amenities.

Day 2: Exploring Höggen

  • Took a leisurely stroll through the charming town of Höggen.

  • Visited a local petting farm, delighting our daughter with interactions with goats, bunnies and a friendly llama.

  • Relaxed at a cafe, indulging in traditional Austrian pastries.

Day 3: Day trip to Konigssee and Berchtesgaden

Königssee

We embarked on a boat ride across the emerald waters of Königssee, reaching the iconic St. Bartholomä church. The serene environment and echoing cliffs provided a memorable experience.

Berchtesgaden

post the boat ride, we explored the historic town of Berchtesgarden, Characterized by its cobbled streets and alpine architecture.

Activities:

  • Visited the Salt Mine (Salzbergwerk), featuring a train ride and slides.

  • Explored the Watzmann Therme, an indoor water park suitable for families.

  • Dined at a local Gasthaus, enjoying regional delicacies.

Day 4: Back to Germany

With such beautiful views and relaxing vibes, we started our journey back to Germany where we needed a single stop for charging and back home we went.
